Lance Parker - Fall 2022

Thank you for your generous support for my study abroad to Japan for the 2022-2023 academic year. I am a senior at Bowling Green State University pursuing a BSBA in Accounting and International Business and a BA in Asian Studies with a minor in Japanese. Being able to study abroad in Japan has been incredible so far as I have been able to experience Japanese culture in ways I would not have had otherwise. I am studying at Saitama University where I am taking Japanese language and culture courses as well as business courses taught by a Japanese professor. This unique experience is enabling me to learn more about Japanese business perspectives which I will hopefully be able to apply to a future career in international business. 

It is a little tough being away from home during the holiday season, however, I am very excited for our upcoming break. A Japanese friend has invited me and another exchange student to stay with their family for the holidays and I could not be more excited to experience a traditional Japanese New Year celebration! I will be traveling to Osaka to visit their family and taking the shinkansen for the first time as well. The financial support this scholarship has provided is allowing me to explore and experience many areas of Japan and I cannot thank you enough. I will make sure to include some pictures of my holiday stay in my next letter!
