Elizabeth Marshall - Fall 2022

I am writing to thank you for your generosity in donating to support my studies in Japan. It was a delightful surprise to learn that I was selected as a recipient of the award. Thanks to the financial support and recognition from the Bridging scholarship and Morgan Stanley named scholarship, I am one step closer to my goals for the future.

I am a fourth year student of International Studies and History at the University of Michigan, and I am currently studying abroad at Waseda University. My courses here in Japan have greatly expanded my knowledge on Japanese culture, language, and history. With the knowledge I have gained here in Japan, I plan to study international law in East Asia and eventually work as an international lawyer. I truly appreciate your support for my educational and professional aspirations.

By donating to support my Japanese language and area studies, you have lightened my financial burden and given me greater confidence to continue pursuing my career. Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community and continue to work to achieve my goals (even when the overwhelming amount of reading and writing for my courses sometimes seems impossible). I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.
