On October 23, 2015, Friendship Blossoms dogwood trees were planted at St. Luke's International University in honor of Honorary President Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara's 104th birthday and in recognition of his considerable contributions to U.S.-Japan relations. Hinohara-san is one of the world's longest-serving physicians and educators. He has been helping patients at St. Luke's International Hospital and teaching at St. Luke's College of Nursing since 1941, significantly contributing to the institutions' reputation as the nation's top medical facility and nursing school. Today, he serves as chairman of the board of trustees at both organizations.
